This paper provides an in-depth analysis of the transformative impact of artificial intelligence (AI) on the educational landscape, particularly in higher education. The study examines how AI-driven personalization leverages adaptive technologies to customize the learning experience for individual students, thereby enhancing their learning outcomes. The paper begins by outlining the theoretical underpinnings of personalized learning, emphasizing the importance of recognizing and catering to the diverse needs, preferences, and abilities of learners. Then, it delves into the mechanisms by which adaptive technologies facilitate personalized learning, such as intelligent tutoring systems, learning analytics, and predictive modelling. Finally, the paper explores the impact of AI-driven personalization on student engagement. It posits that by aligning learning materials and activities with students' interests and paces, adaptive technologies can significantly boost motivation and participation. The paper concludes by highlighting the potential of AI to revolutionize higher education, making it more accessible, inclusive, and responsive to the needs of the digital age.
