ABSTRACT

The Fall of the House of Usher, written by Edgar Allan Poe, is an outstanding example of 19th-century American Gothic fiction. In this novel, the creation of binary opposition and its significance can be observed. My aim is to decode three sets of duality items based on the textual information about this story.
