ABSTRACT

This thesis is based on the American writer Ernest Hemingway's classic work "Hills Like White Elephants", and analyzes the use of prepositions in it. The novel is short in length, almost all of which are short dialogues, with vivid language and imaginative descriptions. It reflects the characters and social life through attractive plots and detailed descriptions of the environment, making it easy for readers to understand the story and characters. This translation practice report mainly studies and discusses the usage of prepositions in the novel "Mountains Like White Elephants". By analyzing the original English text and the Chinese translation, and consulting previous literature on the translation of English prepositions, the author summarizes the use of English prepositions. Although prepositions only appear in some special cases, its role cannot be underestimated.
