ABSTRACT

This article takes Alice Munro's famous short story "Runaway" as the object of study, applies the relevant theories of narratology and stylistic analysis of literature to study it, and analyzes it by using a combination of quantitative and qualitative analysis methods, exploring the misalignment between the imagination and the reality of the heroine Carla when she is facing the difficulties in her life and the inner struggles and difficulties caused by it, and revealing the irreversible tragedy of Carla, which is destined to be destroyed from the very beginning of her life.
