This paper aims to explore the key roles of university teachers in ideological and physical education and their role in fostering students' character development. Through literature review and case analysis, we find that university teachers play an essential guiding and exemplary role in ideological and physical education. They not only impart physical knowledge and skills but also cultivate students' moral and ethical character. The paper analyzes the strategies and challenges faced by teachers in nurturing students' ideological and moral character and provides recommendations for improving teaching methods to better meet the needs of ideological and physical education in universities.
