Studies on risk factors of Osteoarthritis (OA) suggest that patients with OA are associated with abnormal lipid metabolism, and hyperlipidemia may also be a risk factor for OA. In this paper, we review the crucial role of metabolic syndrome in the pathology of Osteoarthritis, investigate the relationship between osteoarthritis and TC levels, clarify the association between cholesterol levels and chondrocytes, oxidative stress, and the therapeutic means to alleviate Osteoarthritis by regulating cholesterol levels.
