ABSTRACT

CSDH is one of the common diseases in neurosurgery, and currently surgical treatment is the preferred treatment option for symptomatic CSDH, but the high rate of postoperative recurrence is still a major drawback of surgical treatment; in recent years, some studies have proved that the method of blocking the source of hematoma by EMMA is effective in the treatment of CSDH; therefore, this paper presents an overview of anatomical-pathophysiological bases, indications, and contraindications for the treatment of CSDH by EMMA, research progress of clinical embolization materials and embolization efficacy are reviewed.
