ABSTRACT

Comics are a form of visual art that uses sequential images to tell a story. They have a long history, dating back to ancient times, and have evolved over the years to become a popular form of entertainment and communication. Today, comics are enjoyed by people of all ages and are available in a variety of formats, including print, digital, and animated. Although not officially recognized, comics has already become a type of literature in people’s mind, for it holds just the identical meaning and function as literature books. When it comes to this specific range of artistic and plot expression, what most people might think of are perhaps classic comics from Japan, such as "Dragon Ball" and "Initial D"; besides, what else they might think of might only be superhero comics from the United States. The fact is that many shining stars in the history of comic books came from Europe. Among many excellent creators of European comics, Georges Remi is likely to be the most eminent one. The name might be strange to the majority, but Georges Remi has a pseudonym with which he is renowned: Hergé. Born in 1907, Hergé, originally Georges Remi, was a Belgian comic creator who created the globally prominent series of comics, The Adventures of Tintin. The settings of Hergé’s works have ranged all the way from the moon to the underground world, from the jungle to the desert, from China to Arabia; the topics of The Adventures of Tintin cover politics, science, adventures, and many more. With only 25 individual books in the series, Hergé created a special world for both children and adults, for everyone who enjoys Tintin’s courage, knowledge, and extraordinary experiences. Spreading across over 70 countries and regions around the world, The Adventure of Tintin left significant impact for children all around the world. The comic series, created by Belgian cartoonist Hergé, has been translated into numerous languages and has captivated the hearts of young readers for decades. The widespread popularity of The Adventure of Tintin is due to several factors. Its engaging storytelling follows Tintin and his dog Snowy's adventures worldwide, filled with action, mystery, and humor, appealing to all ages. It has a unique visual style with detailed illustrations by Hergé, and the use of color and shading enhances the reading experience. Another reason for its success is its ability to educate and inspire, introducing children to different cultures, events, and concepts, teaching valuable life lessons. The impact can be seen in popular culture through numerous adaptations and its influence on other artists and creators.
