ABSTRACT

Different cultural background have different manners, the language politeness principle in Chinese and Japanese is of great difference as well. This paper discusses and analyzes the characteristics and differences of politeness principles between China and Japan from the viewpoint of intercultural communication, and summarizes the different language strategies of China and Japan, hoping to help Japanese learners in China to deepen their understanding of the two cultures, to improve their intercultural communication skills, to avoid linguistic errors, as well to achieve successful intercultural communication.
