ABSTRACT
This paper presents a control strategy for the cascaded H-bridge rectifier (CHBR). Using PI based voltage controller and proportional-resonant (PR) current controller, and adding low frequency (step modulation) and high frequency (pulse width modulation) mixed modulation control algorithm, the control objectives of shaping input AC current, correcting power factor and stabilizing DC side voltage are realized. By building a seven level CHBR simulation model based on MATLAB / Simulink, the feasibility and effectiveness of the control strategy are verified by simulation.
