ABSTRACT

This paper makes a comparative study of five accreditation tests, namely "China Accreditation Test for Translators and Interpreters"(CATTI), "English Test for International Communication" (ETIC), Test of American Translators Association (ATA), "Diploma in Translation" (Dip Trans) of the UK and National Accreditation Authority for Translators and Interpreters (NAATI) of Australia from the perspectives of the similarities and differences in design, assessments and grading, and also provides a qualitative study of Chinese candidates attending CATTI. It is hoped that the study can provide useful explorations for the integration of applied translation teaching and professional accreditation.
